Anti-fatigue mats are specifically designed to reduce fatigue as a result of standing for extended periods of time, as well as reduce the impact of hard flooring such as cement floors on the feet. These fatigue-reducing mats are made from various materials such as wood, vinyl, carpeting materials and rubber. One of the best standing desk mats is the Genuine Joe Flex step anti-fatigue mat.
A standard Genuine Joe Flex standing desk mat features anti-fatigue qualities, two by three inches beveled edges and a black coloring. The mat is made of highly recyclable synthetic materials; up to 50% of the material can be recycled. The synthetic rubber material used to make this office mat increases productivity by reducing discomfort and fatigue among workers. The mat’s air domes offer comfortable support and flexibility while the beveled edges boast of a low profile that greatly reduces the risk of tripping and sustaining serious injuries. At $33.78 apiece, it is quite affordable for the average office worker. Also, the mat design is so good that the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) endorses it.
Another anti-fatigue mat that we tried out was the Crown Comfort King anti-fatigue mat. This mat retails for $28.99 and boast of three times the resilience offered by a vinyl office mat. Additionally, it is highly elastic and helps to relieve some of the standing pressure. Unlike the Genuine Joe Flex that boasts of a two-inch thickness, the Comfort King measures 3/8-inch in thickness.
The aforementioned mats will decrease the pressure on your feet if your work entails standing for long periods of time. Tired, uncomfortable and sore feet are the result of one’s footwear, nature of work and the flooring material. Even though a standing desk mat may not eliminate this problem entirely, it would definitely reduce foot fatigue by cushioning your feet against shock.
